My Story
“When thinking about my story, there are few defining moments that led to my passion of helping others and becoming the clinician I am today. ”
Becoming a “healer” and strengthening my connection to my higher self are not things I set out to accomplish. Instead, they happened naturally as life and events played out.
At the ripe age of nine, I started modeling. Not only was I awkward and uncomfortable in the spotlight, but being in an industry that placed a high importance on external beauty informed my awareness and perception of self. I was also a competitive gymnast, which put an added layer of pressure on my physical appearance, shape and form. Both modeling and gymnastics taught me positive and valuable skills, as well as how to be a perfectionist, a people-pleaser and self critical.
As the years went by, my internal relationship snowballed as I developed an eating disorder. To say my hormones, gut health, and mental health were struggling would be a vast understatement. That’s where my journey began…
“It was an extremely dark and isolating time in my life. ”
It took a LONG time before I listened to my body and my symptoms, and as a defense of not being listened to, my system dissociated. It was an unconscious protective mechanism that carried me through until I was ready, safe, and capable to heal.
In 2000, I joined a holistic inpatient program that quite literally saved my life. They looked at my past, present, spiritual health, mental health, nutrition, relationships, lifestyle, you name it. It wasn’t until I was ready to take responsibility, slow down my life, build new habits, and stop asking “why me?”, that I began to heal.
It’s been nearly 20 years since I started to heal my gut, balance my hormones and improve my mental health, but only in the past 5-10 years has my higher self started to show herself in a way that my “gifts” can be recognized for what they are. I’m an observer, a deep feeler, and known to be quite good at “reading” people. I’ve learned so many life changing lessons over the years, and they’ve filled me with compassion, knowledge, intuition and purpose. Guiding souls on healing journeys is something I have done for many lifetimes. This is where I thrive, this is where I’m in flow, and this is my calling.
“This is my calling.”
